Do you dream of white sand beaches, amazing sunsets, surreal seascapes and starry nights for your destination wedding or honeymoon?
Look no further! Aruba has it all. I had the good fortune of visiting Aruba recently and discovered it is the perfect romantic destination.
I have so much to share that I am dedicating two blog posts just to Aruba, aptly titled "one happy island". In this first post I want to share with you why I think it is a destination wedding and honeymoon haven, along with my favorite resort. In the next post (Aruba - Part 2) I will share other resort options and things to do on the island.
Here are a few reasons why Aruba is the perfect place for a destination wedding or honeymoon:
- Perfect weather all year round - Aruba is outside the hurricane belt. That doesn't mean it never storms, but it sure does make planning your special day/time easier. It is the sunniest island in the Caribbean. Sunshine, warm temperatures, cooling trade winds and romantic sunsets. Ahh, yes please!
- Award Winning Beaches - Eagle Beach was named by Trip Advisor as one of the top beaches in the world. There are 19 miles of beach in various forms for you to chose from. Arashi at the north end, Baby Beach on the south end of the west coast, Palm and Eagle in between. The east coast is rocky, but equally magnificent. Something for everyone.
- Luxurious resort settings - Aruba's resorts offer a wide range of ceremony options. There are high-rise and low-rise resorts along with boutique options on various stretches of beach. I am going to share my top five-star favorite today and talk about more resort options in my next blog post (Aruba - Part 2).
I visited many resorts while I was in Aruba, but one really made an impression, Ocean Z. It is a unique boutique hotel that offers 5 star "affordable luxury". I met the owner, Eva Zissou and was impressed with her personal attention to detail and her dedication to her clients. I will try to capture the essence of Ocean Z and highlight why this would be my top choice for a destination wedding or honeymoon in Aruba.
Ocean Z Boutique Hotel Aruba
The moment I walked into Ocean Z I fell in love. The owner, Eva Zissu greeted us with her sales manager Andreina Rada. They had set up an alluring dinner table for us, which I could totally picture for an intimate destination wedding reception. The windows on one side looked out on the Caribbean Sea with a stunning view of the sunset and on the other side was the deep blue of the infinity pool, contrasting with the white architecture. The adjectives that come to mind when you enter this oasis are sophisticated, elegant, luxurious, clean, magical, intimate, and unique.
Ocean Z has 13 beautiful rooms which are divided between two buildings. Each room can accommodate 2-4 guests.
Oscar Bracho is the Venezuelan architect that designed Ocean Z. He wanted guests to feel relaxed and serene in a modern, crisp clean space.
There are 7 Double Suites with two queen beds in each, 2 Junior King Suites, 2 Master King Suites with an ocean view and shared private infinity pool, 1 Mini Master pool view with 2 twin beds (can be converted to a king bed) and one Mini Master ocean view with queen bed. Each room has unique local art work and special added touches. Room rates begin at $360 and go up to $700/night depending on the room and season.
Below are a few of the Double Suites. All the bathrooms are to die for!
In addition to the luxurious private bathrooms, Eva stocks each room with Bvlgari products, comfy robes, towels and high thread count sheets.
Here are some of the Master King rooms and Junior King rooms.
The food is out of this world!
Breakfast is included in the room prices and you may also order lunch and dinner if you so desire. Presentation and taste are superb. They excel at dinner parties and wedding receptions or intimate dinners for two.
They will even pack you a picnic lunch, complete with beach chairs, towels and a mini-table and take you to the nearby Boca Catalina or Arashi Beaches. Everyone will wonder where you are staying with such upscale service.
The aesthetics of Ocean Z are part of why I fell in love with it. It is an intimate space with a roomy, upscale feel. In addition to the bar and dining space on the ground level there is a meeting room upstairs and an open patio on the top of the other building.
Now you can see why I fell in love with Ocean Z. I have a personal relationship with Eva Zissou, the owner and between the two of us we can make your dream destination wedding or honeymoon come true. Even if you want to book a romantic getaway this is the place to go.
